Military and PCS Vehicle Shipping Across the United States
A PCS move or a deployment leaves little room for problems with the car. AutoStar Transport Express is a licensed auto transport broker (FMCSA MC #600908). We arrange vehicle shipping for service members and their families with vetted carriers, and we stay with you from the quote to delivery.
Where are you shipping your vehicle?
Start with a ZIP code — we'll fill in the city and state.
Tip: a ZIP code (e.g. 33101) gives the most accurate quote — we'll fill in the city and state.
ZIP or city (e.g. 10001 — New York, NY).
Who this is for
Active-duty service members on a PCS move
Military families moving between duty stations
Service members returning from or going to Hawaii, Alaska or another duty station that needs a sea leg
Veterans and retirees moving a vehicle after service
Moves we arrange
Within the continental U.S.: door-to-door vehicle shipping between duty stations and homes, in open or enclosed trailers.
Hawaii and Alaska: the vehicle travels by road to the port and by sea to the island or state, with the ocean leg arranged through the carriers we work with. See our pages for Hawaii and Alaska.
Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands: the same approach, with an ocean leg. See Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
Multiple vehicles: if the family has more than one vehicle, tell us when you ask for the quote.
For moves to a duty station overseas, orders and the rules for shipping a vehicle depend on your branch and your orders. Check with your transportation office first. If you decide to arrange the move yourself, we can quote it.
How military vehicle shipping works with AutoStar
- 1
Request a quote
Tell us the vehicle (year, make, model), the pickup and delivery locations, and the dates in your orders, including a report date if you have one.
- 2
We review the details
We look at the route and the time of year, and send you a quote.
- 3
We match your vehicle with a carrier
We work with vetted carriers and choose one that fits your vehicle and route.
- 4
Pickup and inspection
You and the carrier note the condition of the vehicle before it is loaded.
- 5
Transport and delivery
The vehicle travels to your new duty station or home. We stay in touch about the schedule. Pickup and delivery windows are estimates and can change with weather, traffic, port schedules and carrier schedules.
Planning around your orders
- Ask for your quote as soon as you have your orders. Dates are easier to plan with notice, and the summer PCS season is busy.
- Share your report date and any dates you cannot move.
- Plan a delivery address and a person who can receive the vehicle if you are still traveling. Delivery can be made directly to the customer, to an authorized representative, or to another approved location, such as a military base address when access and delivery conditions allow. If someone other than the listed customer will be receiving the vehicle, we simply ask that this be communicated in advance so the carrier has the correct contact information and delivery instructions.
- Keep copies of your orders, registration and insurance with you.
Preparing your vehicle
Wash the vehicle and take dated photos from every side.
Keep the fuel tank at about a quarter full.
Remove personal items and anything not attached. Ask us before pickup what the carrier allows.
For a vehicle going by sea, follow the port's own rules, which we will share when we arrange the move.
Keep the keys and any special instructions ready for the driver.
Insurance
AutoStar does not carry an insurance policy for vehicle transports, as we are not the carrier. Coverage for transport-related damages is provided by the assigned carrier, which AutoStar screens and selects.
