Does AutoStar Transport Express Charge Hidden Fees?
Your quote should show what you are paying for. This page explains what goes into an AutoStar quote, which details can change the price, and how to check any quote before you accept it. AutoStar Transport Express is a licensed auto transport broker (FMCSA MC #600908, USDOT #2239014).
What goes into a car shipping quote
- Distance and route. Longer routes and routes with fewer carriers cost more.
- Vehicle size and weight. A pickup truck takes more space on the trailer than a sedan.
- Open or enclosed transport. Enclosed trailers carry fewer vehicles, so the price is higher. See Open vs Enclosed Car Shipping.
- Season and demand. Prices move with the time of year and with how many cars are shipping on the route.
- Condition of the vehicle. A car that does not run needs different equipment.
- Pickup and delivery locations. Remote addresses can take a carrier off its main route.
What can change the price after you get a quote
The quote is based on the details you give us. If a detail changes, the price can change with it: a different vehicle, a different address, a car that does not run when the quote said it does, or a change in dates. Pricing is generally honored as quoted once the order has been accepted. However, pricing may change if there are material changes to the shipment after booking, such as changes to the pickup or delivery location, dates, vehicle condition, vehicle dimensions, transport type requested, timing requirements, or other factors that affect carrier availability or transportation costs.
How to check any car shipping quote
Whichever company you use, ask these questions before you accept:
- Does the price include pickup and delivery at my addresses?
- What is the total, and how much is paid now and how much at delivery?
- What happens if my dates or vehicle details change?
- Is the company a carrier or a broker, and who carries the insurance?
At booking, customers have the option of paying only the reservation fee or paying the full balance upfront. No payment is processed until the customer signs the agreement and/or the vehicle is assigned to a carrier for pickup, depending on the selected payment option. If the customer chooses to pay only the reservation fee, the remaining balance is due at delivery and is paid directly to the carrier upon delivery, typically by cash, cashier's check, or money order. If the customer chooses to pay the full amount at booking, AutoStar will pay the carrier on the customer's behalf.
Insurance
AutoStar does not carry an insurance policy for vehicle transports, as we are not the carrier. Coverage for transport-related damages is provided by the assigned carrier, which AutoStar screens and selects.

FAQ
AutoStar calculates shipping costs based on several factors, including the distance of the shipment, the route, the vehicle's size and weight, and whether you choose open or enclosed transport. Pricing can also be affected by seasonal demand, the vehicle's operating condition, and the accessibility of the pickup and delivery locations. For example, larger vehicles, enclosed transport, remote areas, and non-running vehicles may require additional resources and can increase the overall cost. By considering all of these factors, we provide a quote that reflects the specific requirements of your shipment.
